Deca Wake

A year or two ago, my friends and I went wakeboarding. Our pass included lunch. And so we ordered Pork Binagoongan, Pork Adobo and Chicken Fingers. I must say they can cook.

The Pork Binagoongan was spicy and tasty. And so was the Pork Adobo. We ended up ordering extra servings of rice because the servings were large.

The Chicken Fingers were soft and cruncy. It comes with its own dip, which was equally good as well.

It was supposed to be priced at PhP150 each but again, since our wakeboard pass includes lunch, we ended up not paying for it.

Mary Grace

My mother likes this so much that when she comes home from Manila, she brings boxes of it.

There's nothing special with their ensaymada though. I've had softer ensaymadas. My mom claims that what sets it apart is their cheese. My aunt says that it is just Queso De Bola.

Oh well. It is just a nice snack to munch and gobble and drown with juice. :)

Savory Chicken

I roamed around SM City Cebu to eye food choices I never had the chance to try. One particular day, I selected Savory Chicken.

There was a lot of people in Savory Chicken even if I had my lunch at 1PM already. Even so, my food arrived at only after 8 minutes.

I chose their Combo Platter of 1/4 chicken, rice, turon, tropical cooler and a choice of salt and pepper spareribs, sweet and sour pork, creamy fish fillet and salt and pepper squid. All these at P215.

When my food arrived, I gasped at the size of my plate and the amount of food in it. Still enough for a famished kid though.

The squid was tough, really tough that I shed tears to tear it down. I like the spices that went along with it though.

The chicken had crispy skin and tasty meat.

The turon was sweet and was sprinkled with sesame seeds and drizzled with caramelized sugar.

The constant water drinker me enjoyed the tropical cooler. It must be Four Seasons but it transported me to the beach and made me relax while I ate.

Service here is fast.

Red Ribbon

I used to eat here every time I was stressed back in college. Memories were all I had in this place and so I tried to relive it one day.

I had their pork dish but was disappointed that it was 3/4 fat and only 1/4 meat. :( It was still tasty though. If only there was more meat...

The cookies and cream cake was disgusting.

My food trip went really bad and so did my day. :( I definitely won't have the cookies and cream cake again and will tell the waiter that I want an all meat pork the next time I order it. Bah. Service here sucks. Far from the Red Ribbon I used to know.

Samurai

I heard that the food here was good and cheap and so I dragged my friends for dinner at this seafood place.

We had spicy baked talaba, grilled squid, liempo and aligue rice.

After 10 minutes, our spicy baked talaba came in steaming. We, however, didn't eat it right there and then because we wanted to wait for the rest of our food.

After another 8 minutes, the rest of our food arrived. :)

The talaba was indeed spicy but it has cooled already so we really didn't get to fully enjoy it. I bet it was good! There were only 7 of it but it was priced at P75! Boo.

The grilled squid was soft but there was no stuffing in it and they drizzled barbecue sauce on it. Weird. There was, however, sprinkled garlic and a side of vegetables.

The liempo was, I think, really pork chop. It was tough and I don't like tough food but my friend really enjoyed this despite my complaints that it was not good.

The aligue rice was just rice with alique on top of it. Now, I really can't remember if this was better than that in Breakthrough but I like this nonetheless. :)

The service at Samurai is exceptional. Their waiters are accomodating and knowledgable. If the oysters were priced cheaply then I'd give them a perfect rating.

While wakeboarding at Deca Wake, we got hungry. Good thing the ticket includes meals. We ordered Pork Binagoongan, Pork Adobo and Chicken Fingers. I must say they can cook.

Nothing But Desserts Take Two

I never had macaroons so I took the opportunity to taste them one night while waiting for friends at NBD.

It is expensive at P30 but I don't know how much it should cost.

It tasted like meringue albeit the filling.

I don't know what it should taste like. Maybe someday when I'll go to France, I'll know what it should taste like. For now, let's settle on the fact that it's not despicable.

Dos Maria's

With 9 or so other friends, I once had their largest pizza. The crust was flaky like piaya and it was worth P1050. I thought it was fine then but when I ate at Greenoz in Bacolod, I was proved that the price tag was expensive compared to about P800 at the latter.

I ate at Dos Marias because I just want to sample their lasagna. I heard it was heavenly.

And so, even if it was 10PM and had 2 dinners already, I just had to try it.

Lucky me, there was still 1 lasagna left.

I waited for  15 minutes before my order arrived. It was cheesy and the mere scent of it tempted me to devour it that very second. But I had my share of lessons at Greenwich. It is best to let it cool down.

My first bite made my eyes wide open and then close to really savor it. Yes, indeed, the best things in life are unseen. The lasagna was cheesy and was sprinkled with basil, I reckon. There was enough tomato sauce but not too much as to make it sour. There was a lot of cheese but it wasn't salty. There was a lot of meat to make it filling. And the serving was worth it at P90.

I could eat this everyday. :)

Crammer's

My friend wanted to hang out here so I tagged along. I wasn't drinking anymore so I skipped all of the crap. I wanted to order crepes but they said it is not available. So I opted for pancakes. I wanted the chocolate pancakes but only their banana pancakes are available. My friend wanted to order Carbonara but only their Crammer's Special is available. What the... They claimed that they haven't had done groceries yet. Poor management and logistics. Tsktsk.

The waiter went off to cook our order a few meters away from us. As usual, I chose magazines to read. I didn't like the dim lights but it would do for a drinking session. I like the scent of our food wafting towards us as I read.

Our food arrived in 10 minutes.

The banana pancakes was irregular in shape but was drizzled with syrup and topped with butter. It was so-so.

The pasta came in tiny shreds of noodles instead of long ones. It was poorly prepared but I like the taste. It had plenty of tuna and tomatoes in it. Herbs were also thrown into it making for a very tasty pasta.

Now that my friend's curiosity is quenched, I doubt that we will ever return here. So-so food plus poor logistics just won't do it.
