Emilion

The first time I ate here was about 4 years ago. It left quite an impression that made me itch to return.

One night ago, my friends and I had Sinigang na Tangigue, Pinakbet, Garlic Chicken and Ox Tongue. While waiting for our food, the friendly staff gave us complimentary vegetable chips which we happily devoured. :)

The Pinakbet was sweet and very tasty. There were generous pieces of meat added to the assortment of vegetables.

I'm not really a fan of sinigang but I enjoyed the many pieces of fish while my friend consumed the soup.

The Garlic Chicken was a disappointment. I thought it was fried but, instead, it was kind of sauteed. The serving size was small but the taste is okay. I prefer the taste of the Fried Garlic Chicken like that in Hilltop. :)

The Ox Tongue is the best I have ever tasted. My friends said that the Ox Tongue in Ramboy's is better. I have yet to taste that but the Ox Tongue in Emilion is plenty and tender and tasty. Certainly better than that in Mango Tree.

Good service + friendly staff + good food = me returning to taste the other items on their menu someday.

Carlito's

After practice one day ago, we ate at Carlito's. As usual, I ordered pork. At PhP90, it was expensive and not really worth it. There was plenty of fat but the meat was tasty - really tasty and delicious. If only they have larger servings then I would have enjoyed it more.

My friend also ordered puto which I partook of. It was in between so-so and good.

Carlito's has a pretty nice place but I don't think I'll return there for the food and not to mention the slow service.

Tinapayan

At 32 Pesos, this huge pizza slice is a steal! The crust is soft and not thick nor thin. And there are generous toppings of cheese, bacon, pepper and etc. What more can you ask for?

Stavros

Our Meditternanean meal started with pita bread and hummus. I like their pita bread which was bland and soft. In fact, I could eat it alone. The hummus was a bonus already.

The minestrone was surprisingly good. I like the vegetables in it as well as its rich taste. I had seconds of this. Or was it thirds? :D

The moussaka is my favorite that night. I like the mixture of the eggplant, ground meat and cheese. It was so rich, tasty and heavenly.

The Chicken Meditteranean had plenty of chicken in it.I like that the chicken was well done and that the sauce was thick and rich.

The Beef Masala's sauce was also thick and rich but spicy. I like that their potatoes and carrots weren't soft and soggy. But, what I like most is that the beef isn't tough at all.

It was a very hearty meal. One I really enjoyed and very worth it (since servings were really large).

Lanai

We were supposed to eat at Griller's but we decided to give Lanai a try anyway.

At Lanai, I had fried chicken while my friends had Lechon Kawali and Boneless Bangus.

The Fried Chicken was good but the batter is bland.

The Lechon Kawali was overdone. It is reduced to 'polvoron' upon chewing.

The Boneless Bangus is unremarkable.

Still, the prices are fair and the place is nice to hang out in. I would like to try the original Lanai branch located near NFA though.

Steps of Rome

One of my friends like pasta so we decided to have lunch here one day in October. Good thing there was this pizza-and-pasta-all-you-can at only PhP99 which was offered during lunch and dinner on Mondays and Tuesdays.

When we arrived, there were a lot of people. Waiters kept ignoring us and we had to pull tables for ourselves. As if that was not enough, when we were seated, we kept telling waitersss to wipe the table but it ended on deaf ears. After a very long while, when people were leaving, we decided to transfer inside where it was airconditioned. Here, we were able to give them our orders. I was the first to give them my orders but all of my friends received their orders first. I kept on following up my orders. On my third or so follow up, I decided to order again.

I tried all pizzas and pastas (except of course pesto). My favorite is the Bolognese Pasta. I like the rich tomato sauce and the meat in it.

My second favorite is the Two Mushroom Sauce.

My third choice is the Seafood Pasta. Had there been more olive oil and garlic in it, this would be my first choice. I like it that they didn't scrimp on the seafood and the squid wasn't tough and rubbery.

My next choice is the Tomato Sauce. It's good at first but it gets too tasty after a while.

My last choice is the cream-based pasta. It lacks butter and cream and it has a lot of water in it.

The pizza was less than so-so. And all at measly slices.

Lemon juice is at PhP95. Just PhP4 short of what you are paying for the buffet.

Even if the service is bad, it is still worth it at PhP99. :)
